Crystal is writing a biography of her second great-grandmother, Lucretia Cowan who gained a reputation as one of the best photographers in Seattle.

The grant will be used to have the 1953 Centennial edition of the Du Quoin Evening Call reprinted to celebrate the town's 100th anniversary.
