Greetings Fellow Family History Sleuths,
Bet I know what you're doing on Friday nights! Me, too! Exciting days for genealogists! And BTW, can't give any specifics, but in between this and next month's issue, keep an eye open for a dash of genealogy in a popular reality show that normally has nothing to do with genealogy!
Take care,

February 2011
The Southwest Michigan Black Heritage Society in Kalamazoo, MI has been documenting the history and contributions of African Americans in southwest Michigan since 2003 through oral histories with descendants of original African American families in the area. The organization also works with families in the community to help them in writing their family histories through workshops, the Society's website, columns in a community newspaper, and private consulting. The grant award will be used to help fund an intergenerational family history weekend that will include training families on how to do their own oral histories and guiding them in developing a family book.
