I am the great granddaughter of Ruth Wheeler Applin and the great great great daughter of Melvina Shields McGruder and Charles Shields Jr. They say I look like one of my grandmothers and want to fin more pictures and the locations of the plantations Melvina worked on as a child and teenager. I am truly related if you look online for some of the photos with my mixed family, you will see my uncle (my father’s youngest brother) in the back row with light skin.
