As a way to celebrate the upcoming 15th anniversary of her Seton Shields Genealogical Grants program, Megan asked me, over the next few weeks, to share thank you notes that she’s received over the years from grant recipients. (“Me” is Megan’s assistant, Nicole, by the way.)
Next up is a look back at The Phillips County Museum, which received a grant in 2009. This Museum is one of the major genealogical and local history resources in northern Montana, providing access to historic newspapers, obituary files, homestead plot maps, county histories, family history files, and rural school records, as well as a small library of local history reference works. It also maintains an extensive collection of historic photographs of the area that have recently been digitized. The grant award was used to help fund the purchase of a computer to allow visiting researchers to access the digitized historic photographs and other digital resources.
