Genealogy Grants Retrospective: The Colorado Freedom Memorial Foundation

Continuing the celebration of the upcoming 15th anniversary of the Seton Shields Genealogical Grants program, here is a peek back at The Colorado Freedom Memorial Foundation, which received a grant in 2005.

Back then, the Foundation was working to build a monument dedicated to all Colorado veterans killed in action since statehood. This memorial would be a place for families to mourn and celebrate lost loved ones, for children to learn of the noble deeds of lost family members, and for veterans to pay tribute to fallen comrades. A grant was provided in support of their initiative. The Colorado Freedom Memorial was dedicated on May 26, 2013 and you can see the completed project here.
