Genealogy Grants Retrospective: Mrs. P’s Class

Genealogy Grants Retrospective: Mrs. P’s Class

Next up in the celebration of the upcoming 15th anniversary of the Seton Shields Genealogical Grants program is a look back at Mrs. P’s class, another grant given via DonorsChoose.com, an organization that allows you to browse and support school projects.

Mrs. P shared that about eighty-percent of the parents of children at her school were born in another country. She wanted her students to reflect on their families’ past so that they could carry it into their own futures. To this end, she asked for funding for digital voice recorders, writable CD’s, and a CD labeler, so that her students could digitally record their interviews and take away these experiences on a CD that they can reflect on and share with family members for years to come. One of the thank-you notes from Mrs. P’s class is pictured above. (You can read about other classroom recipients here and here.)
