It is because of the sacrifice of my husband and others that none of my sons has ever had to fight in a war. My son-in-law who was called to active duty (Navy Reserves) after 2001, got as far as Texas where the training for hand to hand combat ended in a back injury. Sacrifice is not always at the forefront of conflicts, evidently.
